When it comes to doing things that we don’t necessarily want to do it can definitely be difficult. And for some of us, who really struggle with procrastination, it can be more than a little difficult. But what can you do? Well, the good news is that there are tips and tricks out there for how to stop procrastinating. You just have to know where to look.

 

Create a Plan

If you have a plan for the things that you need to get done or that you want to get done you’re going to have a much better chance of actually doing them. Pay attention to due dates especially and make sure that you aren’t missing anything. Knowing what needs to be done makes it easier for you to figure out how to accomplish them.

Set a Time Limit

One method you can use to complete tasks that you really don’t want or that you don’t have the motivation for is to set yourself a time limit. Decide that you’re gong to just sit down and work for a period of 10-30 minutes. That’s all it takes. Set a timer if you need to and just get down to it. Chances are, once you force yourself to work that first 30 minutes it will be easy enough to keep going.

Done is Better Than Perfect

You don’t have to be perfect about the things that you’re trying to accomplish. If you can just get them finished you’re going to be well off. So, instead of trying to perfect the projects that need to be accomplished just take the time to spit it out. If you have some extra time go ahead and run through it once or twice again, but then send it off.

Start With the Worst

Chances are there’s one thing on your list that’s worse than all of the rest. That’s the thing that you’re dreading doing the most and it’s the reason you’re putting off everything else. So take the time to just get it done and out of the way. Once it’s over you can focus on the other things that you’re not so bothered about.

Break it Down

When you write out the project you’re going to work on first you want to break it down into smaller steps. These are your goals and as you complete each one you can cross it off the list. You’ll feel great knowing that you’re working your way through the project and you’re going to feel more motivation to just keep moving your way along, so you can cross off every step.
